Saina Nehwal was born on 17th March, 1990 in a jat family. She is the second daughter of her parents Harvir Singh and Usha Rani. Born at Dhindar village, Ghaziabad district, Uttar Pradesh. Completed her schooling at Campus School CCS HAU, Hisar and later moved to Hyderabad.
Saina started playing badminton since her childhood. In 2016 she has won U19 championship and made new record by winning Asian Satellite Badminton Tournament. Also in 2006, She became first indian to win 4-star tournament – the Philippines Open.
She has achieved many milestones for india in badminton. Saina set an record of winning atleast an award in BWF major individual event, namely Olympics, BWF World Championships, and the BWF World Junior Championships. She has became No.1 player in badminton in 2009 and won over twenty international titles.
In 2012 London Olympics, Saina has reached semi-finals of women badminton and secured bronze medal for India. She was trained under Gopichand, Former Indian player during the summer. Saina honoured with Padma Bhushan, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and Arjuna Award by the Government of India.
