Gold is one of the most important resources in Diablo 4, and in Season 11, it plays an even bigger role because of Chaos Armor, Chaos Rifts, the reworked Infernal Horde, and the cost of crafting and tempering late-game items. Below is a full breakdown of where Diablo 4 gold comes from this season, how much you can earn, and which activities give the best gold per hour.
Blizzard Finally Stabilized Gold
Season 11 launched without any major gold dupes. As a result, gold is valuable again, and the in-game economy is healthy. For example, a strong meta amulet sells for around 10 billion gold. During a duping season, that same piece would cost over 100 billion, or players would buy 100B gold for just a few dollars. Right now, a gold cap costs around $448, which means RMT is mostly dead and trade prices are normal.
Salvage vs. Selling: A Simple Life Hack
If you have enough crafting materials but lack gold, do not salvage everything. Sell unwanted items instead. Mark items as junk as you pick them up, favorite what you want to keep, and sell everything with one click at any vendor.
Infernal Horde in Season 11
Because Chaos Armor can drop as 4 Greater Affixes, we assume players always choose Bartuc in the 10-wave Horde. A full 10-wave run takes about 11.5 minutes, which allows around 5.2 runs per hour. After collecting data from ten 10-wave runs, the total gold earned was roughly 220 million, which equals about 114 million gold per hour. This matches Season 10’s numbers.
Six-Wave Method (Old Style)
This version ignores Bartuc and focuses only on quick waves and gold:
- 150k–200k gold from council kills
- 7 million from the item chest
- Around 40k gold per Ether from the gold chest
You usually end up with about 550 Ether after six waves. 550 × 40,000 = 22 million gold per run. A six-wave run takes about 7 minutes, for about 8.5 runs per hour. This equals roughly 188 million gold per hour — one of the strongest gold farming methods in the game.
Uber Boss Gold
I farmed Uber bosses on T4 using a Chain Lightning Sorcerer. Times were measured from clicking the altar to the next altar click. Town trips count as 20% of the total time.
Other Uber bosses fall in a similar range. Blizzard also reworked the old frustrating trio (Duriel, Andariel, Harbinger). Now Uber keys are no longer required, and mythic Diablo IV items drop rates were increased. The downside is that bosses feel more similar than before, but overall, the change is positive.
Legion Events
Legions spawn every 15–25 minutes, depending on the season. Blizzard has been improving them, and they now drop Forgotten Souls as well. A completed Legion event gives about 835,000 gold.
Season 11 Chaos Caches
Chaos Caches guarantee a Chaos Armor piece and also give gold. After opening thirteen caches, the total gold earned was 2,729,000 — around 210,000 gold per cache. These are not included in hourly farming calculations since they’re bonus income.
Whisper Tree Caches
Whisper Caches have been buffed over multiple seasons: Regular caches: about 4 million gold each, Legendary caches: about 6 million gold each. These are also not included in hourly calculations.
Nightmare Dungeons
Table of Contents
Three types were tested:
- Regular sigils: about 30 million gold per hour
- Chaos Rift sigils (seasonal): about 26 million per hour
- Escalated legendary sigils: about 24 million per hour
Gold depends heavily on the bonuses each sigil or floor provides, so results vary. Overall, the gold output between dungeon types is similar.
Helltide with Chaos Rifts
Season 11 Helltides now include Chaos Rifts, making them worth doing. Farming all activities inside Helltide — including repeated Maiden kills, all local events, chests, and sealing every Chaos Rift — results in about 30 million gold per hour.
Kurast Undercity
No changes here. A run still gives about 450,000 gold regardless of tribute choice. A full run takes around 3 minutes, including loading and occasional blacksmith trips. Goblins sometimes add extra chests.
This works out to roughly 12 million gold per hour.
The Pit (Tier 70)
I can clear Pit 70 in about 60–75 seconds. Including loading screens, it takes around 1.5 minutes per run. That allows around 40 runs per hour. Each run gives 192,400 gold, totaling around 7.7 million per hour.
The Pit is not designed for gold, so this is expected.
World Boss
World Boss rewards remain extremely low. The boss gives 75,000 gold, and the chest adds 36,000, for a total of 111,000 gold per kill.
Closing Thoughts
Season 11’s gold economy is far healthier than previous seasons. The Infernal Horde remains the best gold farming method, especially the fast six-wave version. Ubers are a solid alternative, and Helltides and Nightmare Dungeons provide reliable mid-tier income. With dupes under control, every piece of gold has value again.
