    Pune, Rajkot the new IPL teams to replace CSK and RR | 2016 IPL Teams

    The two new teams, based out of Pune and Rajkot become the part of Indian Premier League T20, by replacing Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals for next two edition of IPL.

    Sanjiv Goenka’s RP-Sanjiv Goenka group (Kolkatta based business tycoon) bagged the Pune franchise and Intex group acquired Rajkot based IPL team, by winning the reverse bidding during team auction.

    Pune-based IPL team owner Sanjeev Goenka said to Times Now, “Sports is something we are getting more and more committed to and we have seen the potential of business in sports. We have already got into football, this is our foray into cricket,” after winning the bid.

    On talking to the reporters, BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur quoted, “They won’t take a single penny from the BCCI. In fact they will pay the BCCI.”

    After banned Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals for two years due to betting allocation by co-owners Gurunath Meyyappan and Raj Kundra, BCCI made an action to include two brand new IPL team for next two editions. However, both Chennai and Rajasthan teams will be allowed to participate in this league after two years ban by Supreme Court.

    In the auction, Goenka will pay Rs.10 crore per year for their Pune franchise and Intex will compensate Rs. 16 Crore for next two years to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

    Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals team players will divided into two different category as capped and uncapped, then the top names from both team will be sold through draft system. Both Pune and Rajkot teams allocated about a budget of minimum Rs. 40 crores and maximum of Rs. 66 crore to buy their new players.
