Mark Boucher is one of the finest wicket keeping batsman of all the time. Boucher holds all time record of 999 dismissals in all three format of Cricket.
However his record dismissal couldn’t reach 1000 as he was forced to retire at an age of 35 after an tragic injury, bails hitting his eyes hard. This happend in a warm-up against Somerset in England on 2012.
Mark Boucher in a recent interview said “I had not worn the helmet but even if I had, it would not have avoided the accident. Helmets are designed for balls, not bails,”
By his experience he suggested ICC to attach the bails to the stumps, by a light string. This way, the bails will not fly and cause damage to any player.
Boucher also added , “I would strongly recommend everyone to wear a helmet, but making it compulsory would not be fair on players who prefer not to wear one.”
