Sri Lanka spinner Rangana Herath announced his retirement from ODI and T20 Internationals, with a view to extend his Test career.
The 38-year old, Rangana Herath took 74 wickets in 71 ODI matches and 18 wickets in T20I matches for Sri Lanka. He is the best spinner for Sri Lanka after the great Muttiah Muralidharan.
“Every cricketer has to stop at the right time, I feel it’s time to make room for fresh talent to be groomed with the 2019 World Cup in view,” Herath.
His best figure in limited overs came against New Zealand in 2014 World T20 Final, where he took 5 for 3 while defending a total of 120.
“Sri Lanka Cricket wishes Herath nothing but the best as he continues to play cricket in his chosen discipline, and in all future endeavours,” the board said.
