One of the most destructive batsman, Suresh Raina holds the record of not missing an IPL matches since its inaugural edition in 2008 but he may finally miss a game as he expecting the birth of his first child.
After beat the hosts Kolkata Knight Riders by five wickets in Kolkata on May 8, Suresh Raina said the he will fly to Holland on Monday to see his pregnant wife Priyanka Chaudhary.
“I’m flying to Holland to meet my wife tomorrow and I’m all excited,” Raina said at the post-match interview at the Eden Gardens after beat hosts KKR.
Suresh Raina, who played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for 7 years since the first edition of IPL, was named as the captain of new franchise Gujarat Lions after CSK was banned from the IPL for two seasons.
In 143 matches, he has scored 3985 runs at an average of 33.48 and he is the leading run-scorer in Indian Premier League.
Suresh Raina’s absence mean that Brendon McCullum may lead Gujarat Lions in their next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 14.
