Starring Udhayanidhi Stalin and Amy Jackson in lead roles, Gethu directed by Thirukumaran and produced by Red Gaint movies. The film received mixed reviews from Audience and critics. However, Gethu managed doing decent business at box office among Pongal releases. Gethu film released more than 300+ screen worldwide, which is marked as biggest opening of Udhayanidhi.

The crew of Gethu film ensembles Cinematography handled by Sukumar and Edited by Dinesh Ponraj. Harris Jayaraj composed background score and sound track of the film.
The morning and the matinee shows witnessed above 70% turnout in theatres in Tamil Nadu. However, the occupancy took a surprising jump in the evening shows. In Chennai, the movie crossed 75% occupancy in the prime-time shows.

Gethu was released more than 300+ screen on pongal 2016, The estimated collection of the film on the release day is said to be Rs 4.50 crore. However, the official figure is yet to be released. The Tamil movie was released in some overseas circuits on the same day, and received well by the audience abroad.
According to the reports, Gethu movie doing better business than thaarai Thappattai and Kathakali at box office. However, Rajini Murugan ahead of other movie which doing huge business at theatres. The verdict of Pongal releases will be decided after first weekend collection.
